Innovation Scholarship judging

How entries are judged

A committee of four graduate students will review eligible Divvycasts through multiple rounds using the criteria below.

Creativity

Is the proposed change original, imaginative, and engaging?

A well-argued perspective

Does the student(s) clearly explain what should change, why it should change, and what goals it would accomplish?

Practicality

Are the proposed changes specific, realistic, and capable of creating a more meaningful learning experience?

Why require an EA Score of 100? We chose the 100 EA Score threshold to encourage participants to actively engage with the Divvy community and learn along the way through a form of connected intelligence. Reaching this threshold helps demonstrate that you are a student who wants to continuously learn and engage with others. The EA Score is the starting point for qualification. The Divvycast is what the judges evaluate.

Frequently asked questions

Five $1,000 scholarship awards are available, for up to $5,000 in total awards. Awards are merit-based, and Sponsor may award fewer than five scholarships if fewer than five eligible presentations adequately address the prompt and demonstrate sufficient merit under the published judging criteria.
Entrants must be real individuals who are legal residents of the 50 United States or District of Columbia, are at least 18 and have reached the age of majority in their state, currently attend or plan to attend an accredited U.S. higher education institution within one year, and reach a verified Divvy EA Score of at least 100 by the deadline.
It is the age at which a person is legally considered an adult in their state of residence. Entrants must be at least 18 and must also have reached the applicable age of majority where they live.
No. No purchase or payment is required. You need a Divvy account to publish a qualifying Divvycast, and account creation is free with no credit card required.
EA stands for Engagement Analytic. The EA Score is Divvy's cumulative participation score for members who create, contribute, connect, and remain active. You build your EA Score through valid site activity such as Learning Pods, file contributions, discussions, member connections, profile activity, and profile completion. You can view your current EA Score and the points key from your profile. The threshold encourages meaningful participation in the Divvy community before an entrant qualifies for the scholarship.
From All Members, select “Create Divvycast.” Create one original video or audio presentation between 5 and 10 minutes and use your own unique title followed by “Innovation Scholarship Challenge.” We recommend creating a few Divvycast trials before publishing your final presentation.
No. Once you reach an EA Score of 100, a higher score provides no additional advantage in judging. Continued participation can still help you develop your ideas through collaboration, discussion, and critical feedback, but the judges evaluate the Divvycast only under the published judging criteria.
Potential winners must verify their legal name, age, U.S. or D.C. residence, identity, and current attendance or plans to attend an accredited U.S. higher education institution within one year before receiving an award. For a group entry, every group member must independently satisfy the eligibility requirements. Verification information is handled privately and is not displayed in the public entry.
EA Scores and the activity behind them are audited. Bots, scripts, spam, repetitive low-value activity, reciprocal engagement schemes, multiple accounts, false identities, and other manipulation can result in removed points and disqualification. Only authentic participation counts.
Divvy expects to announce winners from up to five winning submissions around December 16, 2026. Verification may affect the exact announcement date.
Yes, where permitted by applicable law. Divvy may announce a verified winner's name, city and state, school, winning Divvycast, and scholarship amount. Winners are not required to provide an endorsement, testimonial, interview, or additional media appearance, and promotional consent will not be made a condition of receiving an award where applicable law prohibits that condition.
AI is strongly discouraged. This is your creative project. Your idea and expression must be your own. Basic spelling, grammar, captioning, translation, editing, and accessibility tools are permitted, but substantially AI-generated scripts, concepts, audio, video, or visual elements may be disqualified.
Scholarship funds may be used for tuition paid through the institution or registrar's office, required institutional and technology fees, qualifying study-abroad programs administered through a U.S. institution, books, and tablets, laptops, or phones purchased through the institution's bookstore. Payments will be made directly to the eligible institution or its authorized bookstore rather than to the winner.
Yes. If we receive many excellent entries, there may be more scholarship challenges in the future. Please feel free to tell your friends.
